One Crusader alumni continues his world domination. Well, his moustache does.
Patrick Fette, Class of 2004, won the English moustache competition during the World Beard and Mustache championships in Austin, Texas on September 1, 2017. This is his third consecutive win in this category.
The World Beard and Moustache championships is held every two years in different parts of the world. In 2015 facial hair took over Leogang, Austria, and in 2013 Patrick traveled to Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany.
The competition is more than just a good time, it raises money for several good causes. This year the championship raised thousands of dollars for several charities including FarmVet.org (farmers assisting returning military), LiveStrong.org (supports, unites, inspires & empowers people affected by cancer), and the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
While the facial hair is the centerpiece, Patrick says a lot of time and thought goes into the costume, too. He says he couldn’t have done it without the help of the ladies at Costume Gallery-Newport. Patrick says for all three of the competitions he has participated in he and the workers have spent several hours sorting through and trying on several different looks until they find the right one. He also says with Halloween coming up if you don’t already have a costume it’s a great place to visit
Congratulations Patrick! Keep up the great style.
