A Crusader graduate is helping cancer patients while he searches for a cure for cancer.
Louis Rodgers, Class of 2011, graduated from Centre College in 2015. He did a junior year summer internship at Johns Hopkins and is currently working at the National Institutes of Health as a Postbac Fellow in Pediatric Oncology Research focusing on treatments for DIPG, the type of brain tumor that took the life of Lauren Hill. While at SHDHS he was a member of NHS, Student Council, and the swim team among other activities.
He will put those swimming skills to the test in October when he competes in his first Ironman in Louisville. Louis will swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and then run a full marathon (26.2 miles) to raise money for Lazarex Cancer Foundation. The Foundation provides financial support to cancer patients, who have been told they have no other option, for FDA clinical trial participation, identification of clinical trial options, community outreach, and education.
