The generosity of the CRU can be felt across the country.
The Health Care Careers Club, National Honor Society and Chamber Choir teamed up to hold a school-wide Hurricane Relief collection. Members from Health Care Careers Club and NHS collected each morning for a week and Chamber Choir provided music (instrumental and vocal) each morning during collection time. The outpouring from the SHDHS community was fantastic. The goal was to fill a Crusader short bus and as always, the CRU family pulled together to achieve that goal.
Items donated included baby care items, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, first aid supplies and bottled water. All collected items were donated to Matthew 25 Ministries in Blue Ash for use in their Hurricane Disaster Relief programs. Matthew 25: Ministries’ focus during disasters is typically on moving large amounts of critically needed aid into the affected area. When the Disaster Response Team deploys, they utilize a fleet of specialty vehicles to distribute initial loads of aid and set up distribution channels through partner organizations for future shipments.
A group of students, Zoe Robles, Lily Rolfson, Phoebe Phan, Katie Bill, and Olivia Eilermann took the donations to Matthew 25 Ministries facility and helped unload everything.
Matthew 25: also got a helping hand from the men’s soccer team. 42 players and family members from the Freshmen, JV, and Varsity soccer teams went up to the facility to volunteer. One group separated donated paint and combined similar paint colors to be used for much-needed maintenance, rehab, upgrade and improvement projects in areas of great need.
The other group worked in several areas in the facility organizing donated supplies that were to provide much needed support those in need.
