Most people celebrate a milestone birthday with a party or a trip, but one Crusader alum decided to do something a little different. Sandy Tagher ‘87 chose to mark her 50th birthday by running a 50K!

She ran the Pistol Ultra in Alcoa, Tennessee in March. The more than 30 mile course consisted of three loops. Sandy said her support system for the race was huge. Her friend, Amy Pieper Hoffman ‘87, ran five miles with her; her running buddy, Kendall Overkamp, ran the last 10.35 miles with her; and Sandy’s sister, Tina Grau, Chisholm ‘83 stayed right by her keeping the family updated on her progress.

Sandy said the experience was incredible, the weather was perfect, the course was beautiful, and she couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate turning 50.
