The SHDHS community came together for a night of fun and fundraising at the 18th annual Renaissance Auction. The event, held this past February at Receptions in Erlanger, saw the return of the Best of Live, Heads or Tails, Fund-A-Need, mobile bidding, and auctioneer, Sherry Truhlar.
Mobile bidding, which was introduced two years ago, allows people bid on silent auction items online. Not only could people attending the event bid on their phones, but those who were unable to attend, perhaps because they live out of town, could still register for the event and support SHDHS from the comfort of their own homes.
Professional auctioneer, Sherry Truhlar, ran the show again this year and kept the crowd engaged, laughing, and, most importantly, bidding!
The popular Fund-A-Need campaign returned again this year to raise money for a new Technology Lab at SHDHS. Sherry added a twist this year, offering everyone who donated $250 or more a chance of winning an all-inclusive trip to the Caribbean. The crowd had a lot of fun getting in on the bidding war, generously donating nearly $11,000. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed.
Heads or Tails is always a big hit and everyone’s favorite, John Lomax, returned again this year to emcee. The Local 12 Good Morning Cincinnati co-anchor teamed up with Heads or Tails referee, Kevin Collins ‘91, and the pair entertained the crowd as they whittled down the field with the flip of a coin. In the end, the last person standing was Crusader parent Jason Welch. Jason walked away with a pair of tickets to Atlanta on Ultimate Air Shuttle.
Also back by popular demand was the Best of Live raffle. This year, for the first time, raffle tickets were available for purchase ahead of time online. This was another way that people who were unable to attend the event could still participate and support SHDHS. All 75 tickets were sold and this year’s winner chose a trip to the Tuscany region of Italy.
On behalf of everyone at SHDHS, we want to thank everyone who came out for this annual night of fun that supports not only current students, but future Crusaders as well. Your generosity is very much appreciated.
A special, and very important, thank you goes out to all of the Renaissance committee members who volunteered their time and talents organizing and working the event, especially Committee Chairpersons: Anne Tepe Schneider ‘77, Susan Kolkmeier, Mary Jo Amann, Lori Myers, Janet Gulla, Beckie Middendorf, and Courtney Barth Hoffer ‘00.
